Why Locals Love O'Bareuzai
Located in the charming heart of Dijon at 3 Rue François Rude, O'Bareuzai is a delightful restaurant that masterfully celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Burgundy. Specializing in regional French cuisine, this welcoming eatery offers a genuine taste of traditional flavors with a contemporary touch, making it a must-visit for both locals and travelers seeking an authentic dining experience.
The menu at O'Bareuzai is thoughtfully curated to highlight classic dishes that resonate with the soul of French gastronomy. Their Menu du jour is especially attractive, offering a satisfying entrée and main course or main course and dessert for just €15.00. For those who prefer simplicity, the Plat du jour is available at €11.00, presenting a deliciously fresh daily special that always manages to surprise and delight.
Guests often rave about the French onion soup, described by Clare Knowlden as surpassing all expectations with its deep, savory richness and perfectly caramelized onions that melt into a comforting broth. The texture and flavor create a warm embrace on cooler days, evoking the essence of classic French comfort food. Another standout dish is the gambas risotto, praised for its creamy consistency and the succulent, tender gambas that add a delicate seafood sweetness, paired expertly with prompt, friendly service and a convivial atmosphere.
The dining ambiance at O'Bareuzai strikes a lovely balance between casual comfort and vibrant energy. With ample outdoor seating, especially enjoyed during sunny days, it’s the perfect spot to soak in the lively streets of Dijon while savoring hearty regional specialties. The professional yet warm staff bring a genuine enthusiasm for Burgundy’s gastronomy, making every guest feel like part of a culinary celebration. Lafaye Sofia’s glowing recommendation of the eggs cooked with Époisses cheese—luxuriously creamy and intensely flavorful—paired with a glass of local white Burgundy wine, invites diners into a sensory journey that perfectly captures the spirit of the region.
While the menu is exclusively in French, visitors should feel encouraged rather than daunted. As Gary Rogers notes, the friendly service and quality of food make the experience worthwhile, even with limited English spoken. The boeuf bourguignon is a rich, tender classic that comforts and satisfies, a culinary hug in a bowl, while dishes like sea bream offer lighter, more delicate options that highlight the diversity of the local cuisine.
O'Bareuzai offers excellent value for money, with generous portions and carefully crafted dishes that speak to the passion behind every plate. Whether you seek a leisurely lunch or a cozy dinner, this restaurant’s authentic Burgundian fare, friendly service, and inviting atmosphere promise a memorable taste of Dijon that will linger long after your visit.
For anyone wanting to immerse themselves in the true flavors of Burgundy, O'Bareuzai is a charming gem that marries tradition with approachable excellence—come hungry, leave enchanted.

We had the best France onion soup here yesterday. Both my son and I have tried many and this far exceeded our expectations. Très bien Chef

We had lunch on a rainy day and the food and service were good I enjoyed the bouef bourginon and my partner had the sea bream. She enjoyed her meal very much. Prices are fair and service is good. You won’t get much English but you should get by.

An interesting area, dedicated to Burgundy récipe and wines. You can take a drink, eat for lunch and diner. There are several options for being Enthustiatic, you can take your time or eat in speed way. The team is professional. I really recommend the eggs cooked with the Époisses cheese, so delicious and tasty ! Take a glass of White burgundy wine and you will discover the perfect match ! Enjoy !

Very busy at lunch but able to get a table. Practice your French as no English menu but I was able to order. The beef bourguinon was delicious. The flank steak was rubbery and poor quality but the pommes frites and salad served with it were great.

Very underwhelming. Our server was inattentive even by French standards, food was average, certainly our least favorite dining experience in France.

Great spot for lunch and outdoor seating. They have a good selection of wine as well. Recommended for a quick stop.

I ordered the Caesar Salad. At first I was surprised at the price, but the salad is big enough to be a full meal. The staff was really friendly and they really tried to understand us even though we don’t speak any french. Will definitely come back!
